His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales Prince Charles has been the Patron of The Prince Charles Hospital Foundation since September 1st 1987. The Chermside Hospital became The Prince Charles Hospital after the Prince Charles’s first visit in 1974.
When his grandfather died and his mother ascended The Throne, Prince Charles became Heir to The Throne at the age of three. He became Prince of Wales when he was nine years old and was invested in the role at 20.
The Prince has two sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, and is married to The Duchess of Cornwall, Camilla.
The Prince’s official titles are: His Royal Highness Prince Charles Philip Arthur George, Prince of Wales, KG, KT, GCB, OM, AK, QSO, PC, ADC, Earl of Chester, Duke of Cornwall, Duke of Rothesay, Earl of Carrick, Baron of Renfrew, Lord of the Isles and Prince and Great Steward of Scotland.
More than 400 organisations across the Commonwealth are honoured to have the Prince as Patron or President. In addition to his humanitarian commitments, the Prince’s interests include action sports, painting, performing arts, polo, racing and gardening.
