Remember last year when you struggled to wrap that awkwardly-shaped gift for Fathers’ Day and Dad made that joke about more socks and jocks? Avoid the sticky tape dispenser drama this year and give the gift of life.
The Prince Charles Hospital Foundation is funding research into some of the biggest killers of Aussie men, says CEO Kate Ashton. “Heart disease is the single biggest killer of Australian men,” Ms Ashton said. “We are supporting research into the biggest health problems in Australia – heart disease, asthma, lung cancer, arthritis and mental health.” Father of five-year old twins, Derek Infield knows just how far your donation can go after receiving a lifesaving transplant at The Prince Charles Hospital seven years ago. Derek has cystic fibrosis and before undergoing this major operation he was critically ill and struggling to breathe. Derek was not only given a new lease on life but an entirely new lifestyle with the arrival of his boys, Ryan and Lachlan, two years after his operation. “By making a donation to support medical research through The Prince Charles Hospital Foundation, you can help people like Derek get back on their feet and enjoy Fathers’ Day with their kids,” Ms Ashton said. “The Prince Charles Hospital Foundation is not only committed to finding cures for diseases like cystic fibrosis, asthma and heart disease, but also to cultivating awareness about men’s health. “The Foundation has been working hard to raise public awareness about men’s health. We encourage men to be more proactive about their health and improve their lives through better health.” During the past year the Foundation has awarded more than $1.2 million in research grant funding.
