When Mark Twain said golf is a good walk spoiled, he clearly wasn’t thinking of The Prince Charles Hospital Foundation’s annual charity day on 13 November.
“I have no doubt our event next Friday would’ve changed Mr Twain’s mind,” said Kate Ashton, CEO of The Prince Charles Hospital Foundation. “The great thing about golf is you’re actually combining several healthy activities – walking and sport – and enjoying a lovely day in the fresh air. “Around 200 golfers will hit the green from 6.30am to support medical research at The Prince Charles Hospital. “The event is sponsored by Roof Racks Galore, Australian Global Freight, Community Sector Banking, AST Auto Accessories, Agfa HealthCare, MH Power, ROAM Consulting, Sci Fleet Toyota Albion, Your Plumbing Solutions, Got 2 Go Car Hire, and Marooka Nissan, Hyundai and Suzuki. “Virginia Golf Club generously donates the player fees taken on the day to the Foundation,” Ms Ashton said. “There’s still room for more players, so contact the Foundation on 3139 6350 for more information or register directly with Virginia Golf Club on 3267 6333.” The Prince Charles Hospital Foundation is the charity which funds medical research and supports care at The Prince Charles Hospital, including the development of an implantable artificial heart, treatments for lung cancers, cystic fibrosis and asthma, and new methods for diagnosing heart disease and arthritis.
