Sharif Deen’s personal journey to fitness and living a healthy lifestyle was not a private one. He was a finalist on the 2009 series of The Biggest Loser, a program that helped him lose 72.5kg (from 178.3kg) and find his passion – helping people transform their health. Formerly a team leader in a call centre, Sharif’s personal transformation required a career overhaul too. He’s now a wellness coach, trainer, motivational speaker and CrossFit addict, working with private clients and numerous organisations to develop and deliver personal and staff health strategies. A year after his incredible weight loss, Sharif is determined not only to keep himself fit, he’s committed to inspiring and supporting others too both through his Sharifit fitness centre and as The Prince Charles Hospital Foundation’s Ambassador for Healthy Lifestyles. He’s also tackling the long list of things his previously unhealthy lifestyle prevented – rock climbing, bungee jumping, sky diving, riding a motorbike, and walking the Kokoda Trail. From staring down the barrel of diabetes, arthritis and heart disease to the toned and healthy fitness junky he is today, Sharif Deen is an inspirational model for giving yourself a longer, happier life.
